Tadpole Round

A great introduction to SwimRun for Adults or
a challenge in its own right for Youngsters

The Tadpole Round covers a distance of just under under 7 miles and is a great introduction to SwimRun, taking in part of the (much) tougher Frog Graham Round.  The route itself has a total ascent of 795ft, a maximum elevation of 937ft and is very accessible.

There is obviously no suggestion that youngsters should carry their own equipment and food, so an accompanying adult and boat/canoe support for safety are all recommended and encouraged.

Wetsuits are usually worn for the swims (and kept on between Crummock and Buttermere) before changing into dry gear for the last leg to the finish.

Successful contenders will be added to the Tadpole Round Role of Honour, please notify secretary@froggrahamround.co.uk of successful completions.  There is no requirement to ratify a successful Tadpole Round in the same manner as the full Frog Graham Round.

Route

Route

The Tadpole Round starts at the shingle beach to the North of Hause Point (parking nearby at the Rannerdale National Trust car park) and the first leg is a swim across Crummock Water to Low Ling Crag.  It's usually easiest to exit the water to the right of the crag as you approach it.

Next it’s along the shores of Crummock and Buttermere to Horse Clos, thenhen a swim across Buttermere to Hassness.

Finally, run along the shore of Buttermere, through the village, up and through Rannerdale and back to the start.  This route does NOT take you over Rannerdale Knotts.
