Route

Route

The route starts at Hause Point (parking nearby) and the first leg is a swim across Crummock Water.

Next it’s along the shores of Crummock and Buttermere to Horse Close. Then a swim across Buttermere to Hassness.

Finally, along the shore of Buttermere, through the village, up and over Rannerdale and back to the start.

Information

Information

There is obviously no need for youngsters to carry their own gear and feeding themselves – so canoe support for safety, gear and snacks carried by an accompanying adult and food after the Buttermere swim is perfectly acceptable.

Wetsuits are usually worn for the swims (and kept on between Crummock and Buttermere) before changing into dry gear for the last leg to the finish.
